dream.happiness and us
exhibition purpose
We do lots of things to be happy, but it is hard to get satisfaction and grab happiness. Furthermore, what if we are unhappy after achieving goals that we have long pursued by enduring unhappiness and putting lots of efforts? What if it turns out that the goals we achieved can not give us real happiness that we want? What if the long painstaking endurance of hard time does not bring us happiness? Are we really wise when we just blindly run with anxiousness and inferiority without stopping for a moment and thinking about our own happiness?
Is your dream really your dream? We all want to be happy. So we all look for the way to happiness. Generally the road ends following the guidelines that society has already set. We just follow the road.
Where we are going is not important. Just going forward and being above others become the reason for living and the way to happiness. It is because of society that sets these guidelines and tells us it is the only way to happiness. So some people use all their extra time for studying only to get accepted by so called good schools, and some others work extra hours to get a better job and a higher pay check. We envy them and follow them thinking their life must be full of happiness. It seems that they sincerely walk the path society has set. But even those who are running in front group adore and respect those who are running before them and think there is long way to go to get happiness.
Why happiness is so hard to get? The physical pain and mental pressure you feel could be easily overcome, if the happiness that you pursue is the right one for you. But if you get no satisfaction after you withstood all the pains, life could just end in a misery. Is running toward a goal that
everyone wants driven by this unknown inferiority? We just want to ask ourselves once again. Why are we running forward and is there something that will satisfy us in the end after all this hard works? Dream and happiness is something that we all pursue and of course they are different person to person. So we do not try to say which dream or happiness is right or wrong. (If we do so we are no different from the established society that we said above) We don’t suggest any magical solution that will fit everyone. We just toss a simple question, ‘is this a right way?’ and want to share our thoughts to find out the right way in the process. For this we ask ourselves if the dream/happiness we pursue is really the one we want or is influenced, brain-washed and set by other factors. If it belongs to the latter category, should we start looking for our own happiness?
Whose shoes are we wearing?
Don’t we try to follow a path set by somebody, which is not ours? Haven’t we lost our own identity and tried to fit ourselves into somebody’s shoes? If it is true, I think it is time to find our shoes and our happiness.
We should think about it. We must think about it.
